Why Am I Here In This Life?

Winter is a magical season for turning inward. Here in Portland (and beyond), when snow blankets the ground, the world grows wonderfully quiet. The usual hustle fades, replaced by the soft crunch of footsteps on fresh powder and that gentle echo carrying through the crisp air. It’s nature’s invitation to slow down, listen deeply, and reconnect with something greater within us.

That serene stillness mirrors what happens when we open our seventh chakra the crown chakra, known as Sahasrara in Sanskrit. Located at the top of the head, this energy center acts as a gateway to our higher self, our divine presence, and universal wisdom. When balanced and open, it helps us tap into intuitive knowing, spiritual guidance, and a profound sense of connection to something beyond our everyday ego mind.

Why Do We Feel Called to Ask the Big Questions?

So many of us reach a point where we wonder:

•  Why am I here?

•  What is my true purpose?

•  Why did my soul choose this life experience?

Even if the idea of a “soul” feels new or unfamiliar, these questions often bubble up during quiet moments perhaps on a peaceful winter walk, in the stillness before sleep, or during times of reflection. Every life carries meaning; every experience offers lessons for growth and healing. This search for deeper understanding is a natural pull toward our higher consciousness.

In my practice, inspired by the groundbreaking work of Dolores Cannon and her Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT®), we explore these very questions. Through deep relaxation and hypnosis, clients connect directly with their Higher Self that wise, loving part of us connected to the source of all things. This connection reveals insights into soul journeys, past experiences, and the purpose of this lifetime. It bridges what our everyday “ego mind” needs to heal with the broader spiritual mission our soul chose.

Hypnosis: More Accessible Than You Might Think

Hypnosis often feels mysterious like something out of reach but it’s actually a natural state we enter every day. Think about those liminal moments: drifting off to sleep at night or waking up in the morning. That’s the theta brainwave state, a deeply relaxed, receptive place where the conscious mind quiets and the subconscious (or higher consciousness) becomes more accessible. In hypnosis, guided by a trusted hypnotherapist, we intentionally enter this state while awake and alert enough to explore profound questions.

In sessions like QHHT, sound baths, or other hypnotherapy approaches, we can ask:

•  What is my soul’s purpose?

•  What lessons am I here to learn?

•  How can I heal what needs healing in this life?

The result? Greater clarity, integration of ego and soul wisdom, and a stronger sense of alignment and peace.

Winter: The Perfect Time to Listen

Just as a snowy day muffles the outer world and amplifies inner quiet, winter invites us to tune into that crown chakra energy. In the serenity, it’s easier to hear the subtle whispers of intuition and divine guidance. Opening this “energy gate” helps us feel connected to our higher essence, find meaning amid life’s challenges, and step forward with purpose.

If you’ve been feeling that quiet pull the longing to understand “why” you’re here know that you’re not alone. It’s a beautiful, courageous step toward self-discovery and spiritual growth.

I’d love to journey with you. Whether through a gentle hypnotherapy session, a restorative sound bath, a full QHHT experience, or simply a conversation to explore these ideas, we can create space for you to connect more deeply with your higher self and uncover the meaningful answers waiting within.

Feel free to reach out—no question is too big or too small. Let’s listen together in the quiet and discover the divine presence that’s always been there.

With warmth and light,
